摘要

Buckminsterfullerene, C_(60), excibits photo- and radiostorage chemiluminescence. Photolysis or radiolysis results in stable products, while subsequent oxidation of the reaction mixtures, constitutes the chemiluminescence step. Besides being an energy storage system in the sense that light or ionizing radiation is absorbed, stored and light is emitted at will, the radiostorage chemiluminescence of C_(60) of the present work has the prospecis of forming the basis of novel radiation dosemeters. Also, novel aisaiytical applications for said fulierenes based on the photo- or radiostoragechemiluminescence promise detection limits as low as 7.2 ppb of sample.
