Catalytic combustion of methane in high ratio of CH_4 / O_2 in the presence of a commercial catalyst Pd/α - Al_2O_3 was studied Experintens were performed with a fixed bed reactor in the teperature range of 240 up to 320℃ With a concentration of < 6 vol. % oxygen and 50 vol. % methane. The rate of reaction as measured by oxygen consumption was determined with the aim to find the reaction order of oxygen and carbon dioxide respectively. Comparing the activation energy obtained (99 k,l/mol) with literature data (90-100 k.l/mol) showed a satisfactory agreement.
