The concept of catalytic membrane reactor is an interesting alternative for fine chemicals production, mainly in three phase catalytic reactions were the membrane reactor could act as a contactor device improving the mass transfer among the different fluids. A three phase catalytic membrane reactor is proposed and modelled for the nitrobenzene hydrogenation to aniline. In this case the reactants have to transfer by convection or diffusion from separated or dispersed phases to the catalytic surface where reaction occurs.
