LIMITED ACCESS INSPECTIONS OF HYDROGEN ERATORS

Low-profile robot vehicles make it possible to successfully carry out EL CID and Wedge Tightness tests with the rotor in place and with minimal or no disassembly. Further improvements to the testing package have enabled cameras to be mounted which have the benefit of allowing visual inspection of not only the stator but also the rotor. Utilities will increasingly seek ways of increasing times between outages and will look to more advanced inspection methods to help them make decisions regarding their equipment. ADWEL has embarked on a collaboration program of work with FIRST HYDRO, a MISSION ENERGY COMPANY, to assist in the development and advancement of the technology.
