WORKING OF SINGLE ENTRY S.S. CONDENSERS, PROBLEM REMEDY AND SUGGESTION

In the age of globalisation, the economic condition, of Indian sugar Industries has been continuously deteriorated due to open trade (fall in international price of sugar) and hike in price of raw material (increase in sugarcane price). Therefore for viability and survival, it is necessary to reduce the cost of production. This cost of production may be reduced by reducing manpower, doing automisation and by reducing the power consumption.Here the author has expressed the problem and it's remedy related to the power saving devices, single entry S.S. condenser, adopted recently by the sugar Industries. Present S.S. single entry condensers are working on 25" of Hg. Vacuum I.e. 635 mm of Hg in spite of 660 mm of Hg, causes 0.8% extra steam consumption increases. How this 0.8 % extra steam demand is to be reduced, is discussed in this paper.
