UNSATISFIED NEEDS FOR CONTINUOUS SENSING SYSTEMS

Major changes in food and pharmaceutical plants have highlighted the need for in-line and on-line sensing systems to permit effective utilization of computer-controlled processes. Periodically removing samples and analyzing them in the laboratory does not provide information suitable for process control. Reliable continuous in-line and on-line sensing systems are not available for many uses. Deficiencies in several parts of these industries are highlighted. Benefits which can be achieved highlight the potential for new markets for companies which can satisfy these needs.
