Measurements of OClO total columns can serve as anrnindicator of stratospheric chlorine activation. It hasrnbeen shown in several studies that OClO observationsrnfrom GOME are well suited to characterise the spatialrnand temporal evolution of the chlorine activation inrnboth hemispheres. Here we present OClO observationsrnfrom SCIAMACHY in nadir mode. Since to date nornoperational OClO products are available werninvestigated scientific products processed by thernUniversities of Heidelberg and Bremen. We comparedrnthe SCIAMACHY OClO SCDs to simultaneousrnobservations from GOME and also to OClOrnobservations made by the AMAYX-DOAS instrumentrnon the DLR-Falcon. In both cases a good agreementrnwas found. However, compared to GOME data thernSCIAMACHY OClO SCDs still show a relativelyrnlarge offset and scatter.
