The MIPAS operational data products of selected tracerngases (O_3, H_2O, NO_2 and CH_4, all v4.61) are validatedrnby comparison with the space borne instrumentsrnHALOE (v19) and SAGE II (6.2). The data werernlimited to the validation reference data set (July 2002 tornDecember 2002). The results of these satelliternintercomparisons presented in this paper show arnreasonable data quality for these validated MIPAS tracerngas products: MIPAS O_3 profiles are within 5 to 15%rn(RMS <15%) and the H2O profiles show a positive biasrnof 1 to 15% (RMS 5-25%) compared to HALOE andrnSAGE II. MIPAS NO_2 profiles (includingrnphotochemical corrections for HALOE NO_2 data) arernwithin -15 to 30% (RMS 10-35%) and the CH4 profilesrnshow a positive bias of 5 to 15% (RMS 10-25%)rncompared to HALOE.
