I have long admired the really "early birds" of aviation. Aside/from reading historical accounts, the film "Those Magnificent Men and their Flying Machines" did much to stimulate my desire to model one of these machines. The Deperdussin is especially appealing because of its clean design and generally attractive appearance. I consider the model to be sport scale because of several significant changes I made to its design to create a good flyer with reasonably simple construction. From the start, I developed the model so that it would be compatible with the Microbatics control and brushless power package sold by Dynamics Unlimited. The use of these very small and light servos made it practical to rig the controls with a realistic pull-pull arrangement with ample throw and torque. The micro brushless motor does an excellent job of powering the Deperdussin and blends well with the scale radial engine.
