Multi-storey car parks - detecting and assessing reinforcement corrosion

MSCPs are unique in comparison with other structures due to their large spans; their constant change in daily dead/live load ratios; and their seasonal thermal and moisture changes (due, in some part, to most car park structures not being fully enclosed). This, coupled with the fact that most have exposed reinforced concrete decks that are subjected to the ingress of chlorides deposited from vehicles carrying de-icing salts, places great demands on them from a durability perspective.
