Concrete can meet demands of mega-lorries

Many of Britain's roads could fail under the weight of the 60-tonne mega-lorries using the country's road network if EU proposals are to be introduced, warns Britpave, the infrastructure group. The EU is examining plans to widen the use of 22.25m 'mega-trucks', already used in Finland and Sweden, despite the UK's resistance to their introduction. Currently, vehicles longer than 18.7m or heavier than 44 tonnes are prohibited in the UK.
