GRC sewer relining - a practical alternative

Thousands of miles of sewers run the length and breadth of the UK. Many were built during the Victorian period using two 'skins' of brickwork linings, and are now in need of major repair. Some are in such a bad state that the only option is to excavate and lay new concrete pipes, this also provides an opportunity to upgrade existing mains to cater for increased demand. However, where the sewer has not completely collapsed, relining often offers a better alternative. Water authorities are discovering that relining is efficient and cost-effective, minimising disruption to traffic on the street above.
