Sprayed Concrete Repair to London Vaults

As a result of a detailed inspection regime introduced by the City of Westminster in 1992, it was decided that the rate of deterioration of the Lancaster Place Vaults structure warranted a programme of strengthening and repairs. Lancaster Place is at the north end of Waterloo Bridge and the vaults extend the full width of Lancaster Place from the boundary of the Somerset House forecourts, on the east, to the facade of Brettenham House on the west. The vaults run for a distance of about 85m beneath Lancaster Place from Waterloo Bridge towards the Strand. The site encompasses all the original brick arches forming the northern approach to the original bridge, constructed by John Rennie around 1816.
