IP Balancing Act: Sharing the Load Across Servers

There's no sign that Internet traffic is going to slack off anytime soon, and that could really put the squeeze on corporate Web sites that wind up being bombarded by millions of requests. Microsoft says it can help ease the load—on servers and on the stressed-out net managers who keep them in service. Its Windows NT Load Balancing Service (WLBS) software distributes requests across as many as 32 machines.
