Campus networks have become the nerve center of many corporations. End-users depend on quick responses from their servers for the information needed to run their businesses. Slow response means slow business, and that directly affects the bottom line. The problem facing many network managers is that the existing shared Ethernet networks are getting bogged down with the increase in graphical interfaces and Web applications. Network managers heed to increase the bandwidth to keep a step ahead of the end-users bandwidth demands, but at the same time do it in a cost-effective manner and in a way that provides a smooth migration path.
