This includes not just the physical portion (the boxes, devices, and gear), but also the logical portion (the routing protocols, security protocols, and dynamic addressing). But with the push to implement VPNs (virtual private networks), policy-based networking, extranets, and peer-to-peer networking under Windows 2000 or Linux, many companies are preparing to renovate the infrastructure.
