One Package Takes on All Event Correlation Chores

Net managers depend on event correlators to give them the lowdown on net woes. But most work only with separate management platforms—which means net managers must tack two more costly items onto the IT budget. U.K. startup Riversoft says it doesn't have to be this way. Its Open River software is the first to function as an event correlator and a management console. That frees net man- agers from having to buy separate packages. What's more, it runs right out of the box, so say good-bye to com- plicated configuration chores. And the vendor says it also pinpoints problems more specifically than its competitors, since it can tap into proprietary command-line interfaces as well as SNMP and telnet data.
