Call it Internet overload. Theseaays it reels as if I can t turn around without seeing another TV commercial, billboard, book, magazine, Web site, analyst, back-of-bus advertisement—or Data Comm editor—touting the virtues of the Internet. The Internet, as everyone says all the time, is changing everything. Excuse me for asking, but if the Internet is so wonderful, why is it that everyone I know who uses it regularly complains about it? There's an easy answer: IP, the lifeblood of the Internet, needs a little help. Before I'm burned in effigy at the next IETF meeting, let me explain what I mean.
