The Philippines found itself entering a new political era on 30 June 2016, with the inauguration of Rodrigo Duterte as the 16th president of the Philippines. There is much uncertainty surrounding the policy direction of the new Duterte presidency, this is particularly true in terms of economic and security policy, both of which are key areas in ensuring the long-term stability of the Philippines.
