Army modernisation funding declined 74% 2008-2015, with service spokespersons indicating this trend will not be halted anytime soon. While smaller quantities and types, of new equipment and systems will enter the service's inventory in the budget out years, materiel upgrades and enhancements will help maintain force readiness at acceptable levels of risk. A snapshot of acquisition-related activities across the US Army's materiel programmes is provided in this feature article.
