I always knew it was coming,like a train getting ready to roar through a town,except this train rolled through the designated ESL (English as a Second Language) "corner" in the high school library. The loud speaker sounded,-"BEEP"-and the words "Please rise for the Pledge of Allegiance " poured out. For most students,this event was a mundane and unremarkable way to start off another school day. You rise. You mumble the words. You sit down and move on. For an ESL teacher and her students,though,this event was a bit more dramatic. The moment had arrived to stand. I looked around the library and,out of the corner of my eye,caught the librarian staring at our corner. One hand on her hip,she gazed at me with a look that cried,"Why can't you control your disrespectful students? "
