REACTIONS OF DIBORON REAGENTS WITH UNSATURATED COMPOUNDS

Diboration is a highly atom-efficient reaction in which two boryl moieties from diboron reagent are added across an unsaturated substrate in an atom-economical anner. The resulting diborated products represent versatile building blocks for the construction of organic compounds, because of the array of transformations available to permit their functionalization. The relative position of the two newly formed C-B bonds permits the classification of the most representative additions as 1,1-diboration, 1,2-diboration, 1,4-diboration, and 3,4-diboration reactions.
