According to Eurostat, the EU's official statistics agency, the unemployment rate in Poland stood at 3.4% in 2019, down from 3.9% in 2018 and 4.9% in 2017. The unemployment rate for the country's youth population (aged under 25 years old) was 10.1% in 2019, down from 11.7% in 2018 and 14.8% in 2017. According to the latest complete data from Eurostat, the average unemployment rate in the EU 27 was 7.3% in 2018, rising to 16.1% for the bloc's youth population. Income inequality remains a problem in Poland, and the government has targeted this issue in its Plan for Responsible Development (Plan na Rzecz Odpowiedzialnego Rozwoju), adopted in 2017.
