Response to Kotze et al.

To the Editor: We would like to thank Kotze et al. (1) for their comments on our article (2). The authors correctly point out that a large proportion of the surgeries in our study did not include an anastomosis or bowel resection. However, the purpose of our study was to determine whether there was a risk associated with preoperative anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) use in Crohn's disease (CD) patients undergoing abdominal surgery of any kind.
