A new definition and calculation for the average normal to a polygon

摘要

This paper presents a new definition of the average normal to apolygon by introducing a one bounded by the polygon, computing itsnormal and averaging the result. The equivalence of this newdefinition and that of Newell, s is given, and a simple calculationbase on this new definition is obtained and 3 N additions and nsubtractions are saved, where N is the number of the vertices of thepolygon.
