LUMP-SHAPED PHOSPHORUS ADSORBENT UTILIZING CITY WATER SLUDGE

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lump-shaped phosphorus adsorbent utilizing city water sludge which exhibits a sufficient capacity of adsorbing phosphorus at a fast rate and which is inexpensive and can be diverted to a carrier for useful microorganisms. PSOLUTION: The rate of adsorbing phosphorus is increased by enlarging the surface area by forming the tap water sludge into a string. The string of city water sludge is formed into a three-dimensional lump of phosphorus adsorbent which possesses a lump structure having large voids. Thereby, less clogging caused by solid content contained in sewage to be treated sufficiently exhibits the capacity of adsorbing phosphorus and the cleaning capacity of the sewage is enhanced by carrying the useful microorganisms.
