Silo discharge with raised floor - consists of overlapping boards with air gaps which facilitate discharge of silo contents

The discharge of grain from a silo is facilitated by a floor (3) raised above the silo base (2). The floor is divided into a number of parallel troughs by ribs (4). The floor at the base of each trough has a number of transverse slots (8). The slots are covered by boards (9) which overlap one another to form horizontal slots (10) through which air can circulate. The overlapping of the boards is so arranged that the slope from the edge of one board to the next is greater than the angle of repose of the silo contents.
