So that JOGNN readers have the most up-to-date information, it is important to note that the name of the condition has been changed from restless legs syndrome to Willis-Ekbom Disease. This terminology was first proposed in the United States in the spring of 2011, and it was implemented in February 2013 by the Willis-Ekbom Disease Foundation (WEDF; 2013), formerly the Restless Legs Syndrome Foundation (RLSF; 2011a).
