Optimized I-PD Controller for Zonal Temperature Control in the Barrel of Plastic Injection Molding System

摘要

In plastic molding industry, the desired shape and structure are obtained by maintaining proper barrel temperature. Conventionally ON/OFF controllers are used in industries, are not giving satisfactory performance. So it is intended to maintain the barrel temperature without overshoot and undershoot. The behavior of the plastic injection molding system is analyzed by obtaining the mathematical model of each zone of the barrel. Conventional PID tuning, I-PD tuning and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) are used for obtaining the optimum values of the controller gains. The responses are obtained using MATLAB/SIMULINK and the simulation results shows that PSO based I-PD controller is giving good transient compared to other selected controllers.
