Enantiomerically enriched organoboron compounds are used in a variety of applications in organic synthesis, most notably as precursors for C-C, C-O, C-N, and C-halide bond formation.1-5 Unlike other organometallic reagents (e.g., R-M,M = Li, Al, Mg, or Zn), organoboron compounds possess several distinct and appealing features, namely, configurational stability, tolerance of many common functional groups, low toxicity, ease of access, low cost, and ease of operation owing to considerable air and moisture stability.
