PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chain transfer agent of a new type that has no problem of smell, is environment friendly and has high chain transfer ability, a polymer having a condensed polycyclic aromatic skeleton containing a functional group at the terminal and a method for producing the same.;SOLUTION: A chain transfer agent includes a condensed polycyclic aromatic skeleton represented by general formula (1) (wherein n is an integer of 1 or 2; m is an integer of 6 or 7; the total of m and n is 8; a plurality of Rs may be mutually the same or different and are each any of a hydrogen atom, hydroxy, alkyl or alkoxy; adjacent Rs may be mutually bonded instead of the substituents, to form a saturated or unsaturated six-membered ring; and X is any of a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal or ammonium).;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
